Sculpture

This sculpture although not pretty, it is intriguing. It has a primitive quality. A little bit like some sculpture that we saw from Egyptian tomb. It will work well with bleached wood furniture.

Marie Claire France August 09

I like to browse French magazine, not because I understand the language (but slowly I'm learning). I like it because it has a different style compare to British or American magazine. There are a few things that I love from their August edition:
I love camouflage, leopard and stripes. In this picture, I love the way they pair camouflage with knit. I don't like the sock and the rolled up jeans though, it is only work with slim legs.

I like the way she wears the stripes, it rocks, although it looks a little bit too done. I love the leg of the piano as well.

She looks so fresh and exotic. Love it. I wish I can have her on the runway :), but couldn't find her name...

Tattoo Sandal

I've been thinking about an alternative of rubber flip flop. Something light, flat, and airy. Then I saw this one on Marie Claire. I think it is a nice design. Tattoo sandal; very nice! The color choice is nice as well, I think it won't work as well in other color.

Some more from Marie Claire August

I love this illustration, so french style. Witty and stylish

I am not really a fan of bohemian or hippie style. But this robe dress is so neat and nice. I like the embroidery details, and the way they pair it with silver jewelery. Tribal jewelery will be too much. Clean and modern necklace and bracelet will do better.

Entre Nous - book about French Lifestyle

My father was fascinated by French culture. He learned French language, and had a plan to move to France; but he met my mother and fell in love. So he get married and settled in "Paris van Java (Bandung)" instead.

Well I shared his sentiment about French culture. I am curious on how the French can be famous for their
aesthetic taste.

In this book, Entre Nous, the author tried to explain the difference between American and French culture. One thing that really stick to my mind is that the French concern more about quality rather quantity, so usually they have less things but in better quality. This applies to food, fashion, and home. I think this lifestyle is good, especially when we live in a city where living space is expensive.
